24 Hour Graphic Organizer Freebie

Happy Tuesday everyone! I am beyond excited that it is Tuesday because it is now THANKSGIVING BREAK! I know we are all in much need of this break. What fun things did you do in your classroom today? We had our fall festival, which turned out to be about 100 pounds of potato chips! Since I am so excited about the break, I decided to make my graphic organizer bundle a 24 hour freebie! It will then bump up to $3.00. These graphic organizers are common core aligned and focus on close reading by going back into the text to support ideas. Download this short term freebie HERE. You may also click the preview below to take you to my TpT Store! Then, see below at how I incorporate these into guided reading and really take on "detective" to a new meaning :)

To make guided reading even more fun with these graphic organizers, I made it "detective" themed. My students LOVE being detectives. It really motivates them to try and find answers in the text. I added some "detective gear" to my guided reading materials. Hello, Dollar Tree! Just add some funny glasses and call yourself a detective. Works like a charm for my third graders!

I can't take pictures of my kids' faces, so enjoy this!

You'd be surprised how serious they take themselves in these glasses. It's almost hard for me to keep a straight face :)

Holiday Freebie!

Happy Monday everyone! This Monday actually feels great because it's a two day week! I am so ready for Thanksgiving break. I will actually be working on a fall snack for our class' fall festival tomorrow! I'm so excited to share it with you when I'm done. I promise I will post pictures of this cute AND yummy snack! For today though, I have a new TpT product from my store.
Since I am in the holiday spirit, I thought "Why not make a holiday center!?" Check it out!

This center is so great because it can be used for multiple grade levels and differentiated for every learner! Have intermediate students? Make it a grammar lesson on subjects and predicates. Primary kids? Focus on forming sentences and illustrating a picture. Maybe a creative writing center? You can really go any direction with this. Check out my store to download this awesome freebie here or click the photo above! I included ideas for how to use this cute center. Do you have any super cute centers that you use during the holiday season? Please share and don't forget to follow my blog and other social media sites to keep up with the latest news @ The Elementary Life!

Compound Words & New TpT Product

I've been on a roll with updating my TpT Store. It's so much fun creating new products for my students to use and to give other educators a chance to use as well! Here is a preview of my new Compound Word Center from my "Whoo's Made a Match?" collection! I really like this center because it can be easily differentiated for every learner.

Differentiation Ideas:
  • Remove difficult words
  • Let students pick one word and make up their own word to complete the compound word
  • Have students use each word in a sentence after making a match
Click on the photo to see more details at my Teachers Pay Teachers store! :) I have an awesome freebie as well, which you can check out HERE.

Freebie @ My TpT Store!

Happy Friday everyone! After such a long week, I decided to dedicate my Friday night to uploading a freebie product to my Teachers Pay Teachers Store. Before I began creating my own products, I came up with the idea of journal labels and simply typed my topics in Word. HELLO, BORING! I mean, my kids enjoyed writing in the journals on topics they
liked, but it wasn't an eye catching writing center. My kids love word work centers, but it's like pulling teeth to get them to write. Adding a creative and colorful label not only looks nicer, but grabs kids' attention. In my classroom, we use The Daily 5, so I need lots and lots of centers because they get bored of the same ones. This center can last all year long. What do you do in your classroom to promote creative writing?

Head over to my TpT store and download it here.
Interested in some different labels with the same or similar designs? Let me know because I would love to make more!

First Post & Teachers Pay Teachers

Hello everyone and welcome to The Elementary Life! I am very excited to be back in the blogging world. I used to have a fashion blog, but teaching and going to graduate school leaves absolutely NO TIME! Now that I will be blogging about my profession and creations that I am currently using for my classroom, the time won't prevent me from blogging. I am always looking for new and creative ideas for my classroom. I figured, what better way than to add my own creations and post them for other educators to use? This is how I started at Teacherspayteachers.com. I've been buying and downloading amazing products for the past year. I am excited to announce that I have just opened my own Teachers Pay Teachers store! You can find it here.

Literacy centers are a MUST in my classroom and my kids love them. I have bought many different literacy centers, but sometimes became stuck when looking for that perfect one. One of the most popular centers in my room are antonyms and synonyms. I know my kids are probably bored of the ones that I have, so I made these super cute owl themed centers! What do you think? Stay tuned to see how I use them in my classroom.
